Walking With Jesus

Where Getting Closer to Jesus Really Matters

Do You Know Jesus?

He’s Here for You!

You might be saying, “Jathan, I don’t believe all of this is necessary. My life is good. I’m a good person; surly I’ll go to heaven.”

Let me ask you a few questions…

  • Have you lied, even if it’s a ‘little’ white lie?
  • Have you stolen anything; a pen from your office that the company paid for perhaps?
  • Have you looked and a man or woman to lust after them, wanting them?
  • Have you said to yourself, “Man, I want what that guy has!”

Have you heard of the Ten Commandments?

Those are just four out of the ten. “For the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God’s laws.” (James 2:10 NLT)

You must be honest with yourself; you know you’ve broken more than one. Just like I was—your guilty of breaking God’s moral law and by God’s standards, your guilty with a death sentence hanging over you.

But there’s Good News.

Let me give you a simple example. Let’s say you’re caught speeding 60 miles an hour in a 35 mile an hour zone. Your pulled over and received a ticket. You appeared before a judge and the judge found you guilty, your slapped with a hefty fine. Did you know that it’s perfectly legal for someone to come in and say “Judge, I’ll pay his fine for him.” The Judge will accept that as payment for your crime and tell you; “your debt has been paid in full, your free to go.”

Did you know that’s exactly what Jesus did when he died on the cross? You have a death sentence hanging over your head and Jesus tells His Father; “I’ve paid the death penalty for him.” God the Father will then say, “your debt is PAID IN FULL, you’re free!” Now, all you have to do is acknowledge that with a simple but life decision, true repentance. That’s making a 180-degree turn and go the opposite direction; turning from the things that you’ve been doing wrong and start following Jesus.

A helpful way to get started on your journey with Jesus is praying out loud…

“God, I know that I’ve sinned against You by breaking Your moral laws. I ask you to forgive me and I accept what Jesus did for me by paying my death penalty on the cross for me. And God, I believe that You raised Him from the dead and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord. And Jesus, I ask You, to become the Lord of my life, in Your name, amen.”

By just praying that prayer out loud, and by believing, you’re acknowledging that Jesus is Lord and that God raised Him form the dead, you’ve taken the biggest step of faith you’ve ever taken—but it’s worth it.

If you did accept what Jesus did for you and you asked Him to be the Lord of your Life, I encourage you to let someone know. Because like the Bible says, “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in Him will never be disgraced.” (Romans 10:9-11 NLT)

I’d love to hear from you, and I would count it an honor to help you with your first steps in your new life with Him and help you find a Bible believing church in your area. Paul the Apostle in his letter to the Hebrews said, “And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:25 NLT)

His return is near. Jesus is coming back for His own. It could be any day now. Everything is falling into place at an exciting, exhilarating speed. So, I encourage you to read your bible. If you don’t have one you can get one from Amazon. Or if you can’t afford it, there’s a Bible app that you can download onto your smart phone. For iPhone and for Android. Start with John in the New Testament. I usually read the New King James Version. I quoted most from the New Living Translation in my story. I like reading John’s gospel, the book (part of the bible) that he wrote because he really saw Jesus in a way that I really resonate with.

Now if you’re already a Christian with Jesus being Lord of your life, now’s the time to examine yourself and make sure that you are where you need to be with Him. He’s coming for those that are ready. He’s return is closer than you think.
