Have You Not Known Me?
Have You Not Known Me?

This new year let’s look at Jesus in a new, or ancient, light—in a way that some of us may not have seen Him before.
1st John says… For there are Three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these Three are One.(1) Jesus left no room for questioning this. In John’s gospel He says, I and My Father are One.(2)
Now I know that it’s hard for our finite minds to rap around this idea. How can Three distinct, separate Divine Beings be One? Ah—that’s where faith comes in. We must remember that we are talking about an Infinite God Who is Three but yet One.
Look at Genesis. And God said, Let Us make man in Our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.(3)
Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.” Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father! So why are you asking Me to show Him to you?(4)
Now I’ve read the above verse countless times. But recently, while I was reading this, those words struck a deep chord in my spirit. I can’t explain it and I’m not even going to try. But when Philip asked Jesus to show them the Father, it was Jesus’ reply that made me look at this in a whole new light. My mind still can’t rap around the Idea that Jesus, The Father and the Holy Ghost are Three in One; but in my spirit man—that deep realization that only the Holy Spirit can give—now realizes what John was talking about in 1st John 5:7 (above).
I don’t know if this helps anyone or if it even makes sense. I just know that down deep in my spirit Who Jesus really is. Yes, He is the Son of God—but He’s STILL God.
Now if you are reading this and it all sound foreign to you, I challenge you—even if you don’t know Jesus as you personal Savior—pray and ask Jesus to reveal Himself to you. If you’re really sincere, wait and watch what He will do next.
For believers in Jesus, we love Him, because He first loved us.(5)
No one can say anything opposite of that statement. I know what scum I was. I only loved myself, if you even want to call it that. It was more like self-loathing if you want to know the truth. But all of us, before we came to Jesus, were narcissistic in nature. It was Jesus that FIRST Proved His love for us and in turn—for what He did on the cross for us—we love Him.

And now, dear children, remain in fellowship with Christ so that when He returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from Him in shame.(6)
